AUTONOMOUS 2026

Tim Bucher

CEO

AGTONOMY

Tim Bucher is the CEO and co-founder of Agtonomy, a physical AI company developing autonomous solutions for industrial markets. By partnering with leading global equipment manufacturers, Agtonomy’s technology is embedded at the factory level, transforming off-road machines into smart, automated solutions for agriculture, turf, and beyond. A high-tech serial entrepreneur and lifelong farmer, he has spent more than three decades creating successful companies in consumer technology, cloud services, data storage, computer vision, agriculture, and construction. Several of his ventures have been acquired by Fortune 50 companies such as Microsoft, Apple, and Dell and several have been taken public as well. Bucher has held executive, engineering, product, and business roles in public and private companies alike and helped launch landmark products, such as the original Xbox and iPad. Bucher’s work at Agtonomy builds directly on his dual background in engineering and agriculture; he started his own farming operation as a teenager which has grown into Trattore Farms, a Northern California vineyard, winery and olive oil business that has grown into a multi‑million‑dollar enterprise and serves as a proving ground for some of Agtonomy’s physical AI solutions. Motivated initially by the need to automate field work on his own farm, he developed the prototype that became Agtonomy’s first autonomous tractor, a platform now designed to help growers address labor shortages, safety challenges and sustainability goals across the specialty crop sector. With over 50 issued patents in computer vision, AR/VR, gaming, data analytics, agtech, and IoT, Bucher’s expertise is both broad and deep, with a particular focus on user experience and product strategy. Bucher holds an undergraduate degree in computer and electrical engineering from the University of California, Davis, and a master’s degree in computer architecture from Stanford University. Throughout his career, he has continuously served on advisory and industry boards and advocated for technology that makes the industries that feed, build, and shape the world more resilient, profitable, and sustainable for the next generation.
